Project

CourtsWeb was developed over a period of eight years (2008-2015) by the Shape Computation Lab (SCL) at the College of Architecture at Georgia Institute of Technology (scl.coa.gatech.edu).

The research team was led by Pr. Thanos Economou, PhD, Associate Professor of Architecture and Director of SCL (PI), and Dr. Thomas Grasl , PhD, Principal of SWAP Architects (External Consultant) and consisted of doctorate, graduate, and undergraduate students of the College of Architecture and the College of Computing at Georgia Institute of Technology.

CourtsWeb is a Java/J2EE application that resides on an Oracle 11g database and utilizes technologies such as JSP, Beans, Struts, CSS, AJAX, and Oracle WebLogic. The Oracle/JSP database has been designed to satisfy GSA information technology and security requirements.

Sources

The database features a variety of media including three-dimensional models, figure-ground diagrams, adjacency diagrams, panoramic images, photos, drawings, interactive vector representations, and numerical and discursive information (including the GSA White Books). The source of the material includes original data collected through the team's site reconnaissance work performed from September 2007 to March 2015, as well as collected data from GSA archives.
